Make Waves!
"You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with." - Jim Rohn
Makes perfect sense. So with that knowledge under belt, it's important to make intentional choices about who we hang with on a day-to-day basis. Some negative energy is always going to be unavoidably encountered, so I guess in those cases, you insulate yourself with a barrier or filter for the subconscious. Identify the negative assault (and assailant) for what it is. Turn it positive, if only for your own sake; but a win-win if you can dissolve some of their darkness too.
In looking at my own life, my own circle of friends, it's easy for me to conclude that - thankfully! - the universe - or God - has gifted me with two of the most positive and beautiful women ever. Seriously! I adore these ladies. We have two homes in two parts of the country and at each location I have a dear friend who feeds my spirit. They've been an immense contribution to my life - in thought and in action. I didn't go out and choose these cherished friends. They were placed along my journey. In each case I attempt to be reciprocal in the goodness and love that I receive from these dazzling gems; however, it's hard to say if I'm successful with that as I hold them both in such high esteem! I try.
And when I'm not in such a hurry and find myself in front of someone who seems to go unnoticed - or even avoided - I attempt to dress myself in compassion and reach through the armor separating us "strangers." Maybe it's for me. Maybe it's for them. For whatever purpose the nudge, I try to respond in kindness - try to see beyond the exterior. The human being. Worthy. Maybe it changes their hope, their mood, their mind.
I learned this from my sweet neighbor.. She is always reaching out. Always making herself available to others. Selflessly giving of her time and her good spirit. Her example makes me strive to be a better person. Her actions touch me and then reach others she can not even know about. Pretty amazing.
I threw a rock into the pond in our neighborhood and took this shot. It was to go along with the quote I'd read in a book... to be attached to a wired art piece I had in my head for Sweet neighbor. All the joy of being creative, inspired by others.
WARNING: This effect is true of kindness, but also goes the other way. So be careful what you put out there!
